Beyond the Pinch Pots

Using the pinch pot method, one of the oldest techniques, you will create delicate clay vessels. Your fingers and a few tools will teach you about the subtleties of clay, its remarkable elasticity, different textures and variety of colors. You will work with a progression of textures from Raku clay (the most open clay) to porcelain clay (a fine and dense clay). Students will smoke-fire their dry pieces at Karen's studio in trash can kilns that the class has made.

Tuition: $250, Materials Fee: $5, Lab Fee; $15
