Fall Session/September 10-12

Beginning and Intermediate Wood Bowl Turning

Greg Thomas

All Levels

Studio

3 Day class (9am-4pm)

Tuition: $165

Materials: $30

This workshop will cover the basics of bowl turning and proper tool sharpening. Turning tips and techniques will be demonstrated. Specific problems that students might be having will be addressed. Bradford pear and soft maple will be turned, with lots of shavings made in the process. This is a good class for all levels.

Greg Thomas (Elkins, Arkansas) has studied with master turners Judy Ditmer, Trent Bosch, and most recently, Ray Key from England. He received “Best in Three-Dimensional” for his turned wood sculpture, “Ravens”, at the 2009 Artist of Northwest Arkansas Fifteenth Annual Regional Art Exhibition. Greg Thomas' work may be seen at ASI Gallery in Little Rock, Arkansas, and at Handmade in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Images of his work are also on the Arkansas Arts Council website.
