Classes - MetalSession Nine/July 26 - 30Beginning to Intermediate EnamelingL.J. Smole Beginning to Intermediate Studio 5 Day class (9am-4pm) Tuition: $275 Materials: $85 Finely ground glass and heat create a variety of stunning surfaces on metals. You will explore dusting, stenciling, scraffito, champlevé, bas taille, and cloisonné. You will make pendants or earrings, small dishes or bowls, and other beautiful things! This class uses non-lead bearing enamels. You will learn basic techniques regarding the preparation of surfaces and enamels as well as how to use kilns and alternate heating methods. No experience is required. In 1981 L.J. (Eureka Springs, Arkansas) learned to cut gemstones which quickly led to silver and gold-smithing. Enameling is an extension of her explorations using color and texture in combination with metal manipulation. L.J. moved to the Ozarks in 1998 and shares her studio with two cats who assure her they are in charge. |
