Session Two/June 11-15 Barry
Lindley All Levels
Especially designed for painters who want to improve their underlying drawing skills, this course will also prove rewarding for those who want to use drawing as an expressive medium in its own right, or want to make illustrated journals or diaries. Students may be at any skill level as long as they have a sincere desire to develop confidence in their drawing ability. Sessions will include brief demonstrations, guided exercises, critiques, and background discussions. Subject matter will address the interests of the students, but will also include forms in nature, the figure in context, and “drawing on the go” – travel journaling, for example. The instructor will emphasize using a wide variety of tools, chosen for their expressive power and appropriateness for the purpose of the drawing. International artist, Barry is particularly known for the strength of his works, as well as his expressive realism in landscape, waterscape, and cityscape, and his ability to translate that to his students. Barry has a Ph.D. from Western Reserve University and taught for over thirty years in the medical field before retiring and becoming a full time artist and instructor.
