Session Seven/July 23-27

Jim Pesek
Cedar Flute Making

All Levels
Studio
5 Day Class (9am-4pm)
Tuition: $265 (includes lab fee)
Materials: $20 and up

You will start creating your own 6 hole cedar flute, along with the basic construction of the double-barrel drone and its hauntingly beautiful sound. Next, the student will hand-carve an effigy. This is a figure that sits on top of the flute and acts as a tuner. The last project will be creating a display stand for your flute.

Jim Pesek is endorsed by John Two Hawks for making “one of a kind wooden flutes. Jim has studied under Alex Maldonado, a master flute maker from Arizona, and carries on his tradition. In 2002 he was invited to carve a woodpecker for the Haskell Indian Nation in Lawrence, Kansas. Many of Jim’s flutes have been used in John Two Hawks’ recordings.
